DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DAY SERVICES):

Provide assistance, instruction, and supervision to a group of adult participants in the VAC’s Day Program.  Work with a team of professionals in developing and administering various curriculum models and activities.  Instruct and supervise various groups, focusing on participant goals and enhancing skills that are appropriate to their well being. Activities may include arts & crafts projects, cooking classes, exercise groups, job skills groups, reading and writing groups, and health and nutrition groups.  Accompany and ensure the safety of the participants on various outings within the community (Boston and Greater Boston areas).

 

Responsibilities:

• Lead and assist program participants with various activities and community outings planned for the day.

• Work closely with other staff members to develop a curriculum for monthly activities.  Responsible for working with the team to implement new ideas and daily activity schedules.

• Provide transportation via a company vehicle.  A driver’s license & a clean driving record is mandatory for this position. 

• Ensure that each participant is working toward his or her goals. Monthly goal progress notes will be expected.

 

Requirements:

Work towards a college degree/human service degree preferred. Must have the ability to evaluate an individual’s skills, aptitudes, goals, and areas of improvement. Competent writing and communication skills in English are necessary for the position. Must have excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.  A drivers license & clean driving record is mandatory.  Successful applicants must be able to drive a 12-passenger minivan. Must pass a CORI  Must be a team player!  Creativity a plus.

 

Schedule:

Monday- Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm
